About the role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Compute Strategist to drive Anthropic's compute strategy and secure the partnerships needed to stay at the frontier of AI development. In this role, you'll lead technical strategy for compute procurement and optimization, negotiate large-scale deals with cloud providers, and work closely with our research teams to understand and plan for future compute needs. Your work will be crucial in ensuring Anthropic has the compute resources necessary to pursue our mission of developing safe and beneficial AI systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain comprehensive artifacts (reports, dashboards, models) that capture our understanding of the compute landscape
- Conduct in-depth analyses to support critical decision-making around compute strategy and investments
- Monitor and analyze the compute infrastructure landscape, including cloud provider offerings, emerging technologies, and industry trends
- Develop frameworks and models that accurately represent the current and future state of AI compute
- Partner with research teams to understand future compute needs and translate them into actionable intelligence
You may be a good fit if you have:
- Have 5+ years of experience in technical analysis, knowledge management, or strategic roles in technology
- Excel at synthesizing complex information into clear, comprehensive knowledge artifacts
- Have demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analyses that directly inform important business decisions
- Possess strong technical understanding of distributed systems and AI infrastructure
- Take a data-driven approach to building models and analytical frameworks
- Have excellent research skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Can effectively translate technical analyses into actionable recommendations for leadership
- Are passionate about ensuring advanced AI systems are developed safely and responsibly
Strong candidates may also have:
- Experience creating decision-support tools or knowledge management systems in technical domains
- Background in scenario planning or strategic forecasting
- Experience with data visualization and technical communication
- Familiarity with technical performance modeling and benchmarking
- Track record of producing high-quality analytical work that directly influenced strategic decisions
