The Perception team at Waymo builds technology that powers the Waymo Driver. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. If you're a software engineer or researcher who's curious and passionate about Level 4 autonomous driving, we'd like to meet you. This role is a limited duration, at-will role to support projects across on the Perception team, expected to take approximately 2 years.
You Will
Report into a Perception Engineering Manager
Work on an exciting roadmap to deliver new Waymo products
Be a core contributor across our ML heavy stack, building tooling and systems to promote new hardware platforms, reliable evaluation, scalable data mining, integrated distributed systems, and guide tooling across the development ecosystem and smoother development experience
You Have
BS in Computer Science, Robotics, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
High customer focus and attention to detail
Proficiency in C++
We Prefer
Familiarity with Google Infrastructure: Flume, Spanner, Borg, or Guitar
2 years professional experience contributing to an ML-centric product
Familiarity with ML principles, models and techniques
Developed models in a customer-focused environment (e.g., NLP, Speech, or Video).
Experience in data analysis at a large-scale
Experience working on a multi-component ML system and building measurable signals to improve it
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. This position may also be eligible to participate in Waymo’s equity incentive plan and generous Company benefits program, if applicable.
