Engineering Manager - Language Capabilities (f/m/d)*
YOUR MISSION:
As Engineering Manager for a Language Capabilities team (f/m/d)*, you will empower and lead a team of experienced data scientists, machine learning, and backend engineers to design and develop a platform to fine-tune and orchestrate speech model and processing services and expand our tech capabilities to a broad set of languages. You will lead a data science experimentation process to improve these models. The team will operate machine learning components critical to Parloa’s success. You will set a high bar for engineering excellence and support your reports, supporting their growth and motivating them to solve complex challenges as a team. Your team will make an impact in transforming the entire customer service industry with data and AI.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Grow and lead a team of 5-7 machine learning engineers, backend engineers, and data scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
- Empower your team to take ownership of critical Speech-to-text and Text-to-speech models and to develop a scalable approach for customizing speech models to customer-specific requirements in a broad range of languages
- Take ownership of speech services, such as acoustic echo cancellation, voice activity detection, and Language detection
- Deliver services for orchestrating ML models that are critical for Parloa’s platform
- Work with product management to ensure your team’s work aligns with company strategy and customer needs
- Develop your team via effective coaching and by providing them with growth opportunities
Our Data Tech stack:
Microsoft Azure, Python, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Databricks, OpenAI, MongoDB, Redis
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer/machine learning engineer and/or data scientist
- 3+ years of experience leading science or data science projects
- 3+ years of experience as a people manager
- Experience in leading engineering teams that own production services
- Experience with developing and maintaining real-time machine learning products end-to-end: translating product requirements into technical requirements, data gathering/transformation and exploration, model productionization, maintenance, monitoring, optimization
- Experience establishing best practices in engineering and machine learning excellence (security, scalability, availability, etc.)
- Experience in leading large and complex machine learning projects (1 year+ roadmap)
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
