Key job responsibilities

AWS seeks a self-motivated, well-connected, and experienced public relations professional to join the AWS communications team in India. This role reports to the Communications Leader for AWS in India and South Asia, is based in Gurgaon and will require domestic and international travel.AWS storytelling rests on the core pillars of innovation, economic development, and social impact, with the themes of customer obsession, partner focus, technological leadership, pace of innovation, and breadth of services.

The candidate must have proven experience managing communications programs in India, including project management and media relations.

This role will collaborate across the business to develop communications plans, messaging for earned and owned content, processes and best practices, manage issues, provide counsel and execute on PR strategies.

This role works closely with regional and global PR, Marketing, Public Policy and Analyst Relations. Develop and execute effective communications strategies for AWS India through a sustained, strategic, program that supports local business growth.

Create compelling content with customers and partners to generate stories on the transformational impact of cloud technology in India.

Work on press releases, pitches and related communications materials.

Foster strong relationships internally with business stakeholders, and regional and global team members as well as externally with customers/partners, media and PR agencies

Collaborate with Public Policy teams to lead and respond to complex regulatory, business, and technology issues.

Develop and successfully manage relationships with key media and influencers

Provide issues management counsel, and strategic advice to the business to help maintain AWS’s reputation as a good corporate citizen in India

Amplify key marketing events and initiatives, including AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent, with media relations programs spotlighting news announcements, one-on-one engagements with AWS executives, customers, partners; and educational sessions with media.

About The Team

The India PR team is responsible for the local launch of new AWS services and infrastructure, customer related announcements, partnerships and strategic programs in a way that maximizes the positive reputation of AWS locally. It also identifies and engages with customers using AWS services successfully, to share their stories in the media. The right candidate needs to possess extensive media relations and social media experience, is an expert at writing and disseminating news releases and customer success stories, is experienced with issues management and crisis communications, can exercise high-judgment while acting with speed, and can lead communications strategy at events.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 14 years of public relations experience
• Fluent written and verbal English
• Experience working directly with customers, and developing their stories
• Proven experience managing large projects
• Extensive experience working with media, industry analysts, and influencers in India
