ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re seeking a photonics packaging engineer to drive the design, assembly and integration of fiber-optic components for our Silicon Photonics products. This person will be a key contributor to the full lifecycle of optical sub-assemblies—from concept and development to qualification and high-volume production. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in optical components & assemblies with hands-on experience in optical design, reliability testing and cross-functional collaboration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Education: Minimum Masters Degree in engineering or physics.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
- Specialized skills
- Strong experience designing and working with fiber-optic and integrated-optics components and sub-assemblies. Specific experience with multi-fiber connectors is a big plus.
- Strong understanding of standard production processes used for manufacturing micro-optics, fiber-optic interface devices and sub-assemblies.
- Experience running reliability assessment and qualification programs for optical components.
- Experience with free-space design software (Zemax, Code-V)
- Experience with mechanical design software (Solidworks or similar)
- Ability to collect and analyze large datasets (i.e. experience with JMP, DataConductor or similar data analysis tools)
- Prior experience with vendor engagements for component procurement is a plus.

LOCATION: Santa Clara, CA
For California Location:
As an early stage start up, we offer an extremely attractive total compensation package inclusive of competitive base salary, bonus and a generous grant of our valuable early-stage equity. The target base salary for this role is approximately $185,000.00 - $215,000.00. The base salary offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target base salary, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
