About the role
As a member of Anthropic’s External Affairs team, you will manage select relationships with external stakeholders and collaborate with Policy colleagues on a variety of projects to drive progress towards AI safety. Projects our External Affairs team work on include tracking and analyzing policy developments; conducting policy research; planning, coordinating, and leading external engagements; drafting submissions for public comment; and managing projects across the Policy team. You will also collaborate with colleagues on a variety of other projects, and can expect opportunities to grow further in the future.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and executing a strategy for Anthropic’s policy priorities in the UK and several other important markets in the EMEA region
- Briefing a diverse set of policy and research actors that are looking to better understand AI safety and AI policy opportunities, as needed
- Proactively tracking and analyzing significant policy developments in the assigned areas of responsibility
- Supporting external engagements by preparing briefings and taking action on requests
- Collaborating with policy and technical teams to support Anthropic’s messaging and policy proposals, including by developing policy papers and other written material
- Monitoring, developing and preparing responses to government and regulatory initiatives
- Developing new programming and generating opportunities for Anthropic to regularly engage with policymakers, think tanks, and non-profit organizations
- Other projects as assigned

- Have a deep curiosity for frontier technological research and are eager to work closely with technical colleagues
- Have extensive experience engaging policymakers and/or regulators
- Have demonstrated an ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical areas and policy dynamics
Strong candidates may have:
- An established track record of working in the government and/or in the technology industry
- A law degree or other advanced degree
