Tempus is seeking a highly qualified advanced-degree Translational Research Summer Associate to work with us for the summer of 2025. We are looking for people who can change the world.

As a Summer Intern at Tempus, you will:
- Apply skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to on-the-job experiences
- Work on comprehensive, value-added project(s) that help enhance the fields of science and technology
- Collaborate with teams/colleagues in a fast-paced environment
- Gain professional development & build relationships with peers from across the country
Anticipated Summer Project(s):
- Project #1: Leverage a strong foundation in genetics/genomics and proficiency in R to analyze a de-identified dataset with both DNA and RNA sequencing as well as curated clinical metadata from real-world cancer patients
- Project #2: Develop parameterized RMarkdown reports for key analytical questions
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate Master’s or Ph.D program in Molecular Biology, Biostatistics/Statistical Genetics, Cancer Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computational Immunology
- Highly proficient in R and/or RMarkdown (R Shiny experience is a bonus)
- Previous experience working with large transcriptome and NGS data sets.
- Strong understanding of molecular data with some experience in integrative modeling of multi-modal clinical and omics data.
- Demonstrates the ability to synthesize findings from complex datasets and effectively interpret high-throughput data, showcasing a talent for identifying patterns, deriving actionable insights, and communicating results clearly to support data-driven decision-making.
- Goal orientation, self-motivation, and drive to make a positive impact in healthcare.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement by exhibiting curiosity, proactively seeking opportunities to enhance processes, and investigating solutions to challenges.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment is critical. Be ready to fly the plane as you’re still building it!
Additional Details:
- You will spend 8 or 10 weeks working in our Chicago office. The internship will be a hybrid, onsite 3 days/week with the option to work remotely the remaining days.
- The program will start in early June and run through August.
- A competitive hourly wage will be provided for the summer employment and a relocation bonus to help offset some of the relocation costs and resources to help you find housing.
