Snapshot
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about building software for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and are willing to roll up their sleeves and get things done. This is a hands-on coding role to help invent, implement and exploit new ideas in EDA and an exciting opportunity to build technology from the ground up to fundamentally impact the future of electronic design.
About Us
Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence (AI). We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.
The Role
You should be passionate about how to use AI and cloud computing.
- Skilled at rapid yet rigorous prototyping and software tool building for design automation, including discarding failed experiments and trying again.
- Excited to invent, prototype, and deliver products employing novel optimization techniques and machine learning to re-invent chip design, from Verilog to GDSii.
- Interested in collaborating with a small, highly dynamic team with bold ambitions within the context of a larger organization.
Existing team members are self-driven and motivated, bring passion to their work, are comfortable working in a highly ambiguous environment, are open and curious to seek out and learn new perspectives, can challenge their own thinking, and are excellent and direct communicators and collaborators.
About You
In order to set you up for success as a EDA Software Engineer at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience developing EDA software, including database, synthesis, and physical design.
- Understanding of how chip designers interact with EDA software to achieve results.
- Experience working with full-stack hardware development, from architecture through physical design
- Experience with collaborative software development and engineering best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate.
- Desire to revolutionize chip design and ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving organization.
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
- Experience deploying cloud-based software or high-performance computing
- Experience with ML-AI, JAX, GPU, or other SIMD programming.
- Experience with optimization techniques such as SAT or MIP solving, simulated annealing, or linear/quadratic programming.
- Experience applying AI to EDA
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Desire to work in a highly diverse, interdisciplinary environment.
