JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Principal Systems Engineer of Safety for the Hivemind Enterprise team, you will be the subject matter expert for approach to certifiability support within the Hivemind SDK. You will partner with our customer Safety community and internal leaders across product engineering, solutions engineering, and aircraft to pioneer the future architecture and framework of certifiable autonomy. The right person for this role has knowledge of processes and development practices for certification of autonomy, including design, development, test, analysis, software maintenance/sustainment, and continuous improvement. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Evolve Hivemind Enterprise’s Software and System Safety Approach
- Plan and support design of and extensible Run Time Assurance capability
- Plan and support design of certifiability guides and tooling in the Hivemind Enterprise ecosystem
- Work closely with customers to understand certification needs
- Clearly communicate technical risks to the executive leadership team
- Support the Design Requirements Process as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure teams adhere to Safety best practices and triage proactive hazard mitigations
- Support Systems Integration and Test with Qualification Test Plan Development
- Support Development Milestone Reviews such as PDR, CDR, QDR representing Safety
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 12+ years Industry Experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, or System Safety Engineer
- B.S. Degree in Engineering
- Experience with airworthiness certification standards (MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178C) or other domain certification standards
- Experience working on Safety for complex software systems
- Minimum of 5+ years of technical leadership experience
