Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader to oversee the daily operations of our high-volume pathology team operations in Chicago. This role will focus on managing the pre-analytical workflows including the Path Lab Coordinators and Histology, ensuring the delivery of high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times. The ideal candidate will collaborate with product, research, and business development teams to develop the most advanced sequencing platform in cancer care.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the operational activities of a cutting-edge clinical laboratory to support a molecular workflow with rapid turnaround times.

Deliver regular updates to the Senior Pathology Manager and Laboratory Operations Director, summarizing laboratory performance, turnaround times, productivity, and other performance metrics.

Oversee histology, pathology abstraction and review support, and ancillary support for the lab operations associates and Lab Logistics Manager, and participate in the completion of daily activities as necessary.

Provide solutions to highly complex problems and apply a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.

Maintain regulatory compliance within the lab, including CAP, CLIA, OSHA, etc.

Keep standard operating procedures up to date and monitor deviations.

Develop and implement workflows for new assays.

Provide technical direction, mentoring, and professional guidance to laboratory employees.

Evaluate the competency of all testing personnel on an ongoing basis.

Oversee safety within the laboratory and ensure all safety protocols are followed.

Review quality incidents and deviations and perform continuous improvement.

Responsible for workflow KPIs.
Preferred Qualifications:

One of the following educational requirements:
-
M.S. (physical, chemical, or biological science) + at least 4 years pertinent clinical lab experience (at least 2 of which are in the designated specialty).

B.S. in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological sciences and at least 7 years of pertinent clinical lab experience.

Experience supervising others in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory.
