Hardware Engineering is a diverse and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We develop, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're looking for curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction. In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer.
You Will
- Implement world class manufacturing solutions through the development of assembly tooling, automated equipment, and assembly processes
- Oversee onsite development and qualification of Opto-Mechanical module manufacturing assembly lines
- Contract Manufacturing partner technical and operational management
- Opto-Mechanical Assembly process development, DFM and PFMEA activities
- Onsite build support during engineering builds, responsible for line technical readiness, SOP's, qualification and process optimization
- Have the ability to travel internationally approximately 20% of time
You Have
- 5+ years of experience setting up and working with CM partners in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience assessing manufacturing processes through the use of PFMEA, process monitors, capability analysis, root-cause/corrective actions and design of experiments
- Track record in manufacturing process development and transitioning new products through full product life-cycle
We Prefer
- Familiarity with opto-mech (Camera/Lidar module) product design and assembly methods,
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and use of industry std quality tools to ensure manufacturability, yields and ability to increase demand for scale
- Experience collaborating in teams with hardware Eng, design, quality engineers, rel and operations teams.
- A team player, demonstrated ability in an advanced development environment, willing to help and ask for help
The expected base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
