What You’ll Do:
As we continue to expand our operations and reach, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our finance team. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible on a regular basis for managing all aspects of payroll reconciliation, payroll and benefit accruals and journal entries on a bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly schedule as required. In addition, this position will be tasked with managing payroll taxes at the federal, state and local levels. This may include registering the company in new states and working with the payroll vendor for any variances or necessary amendments. This position will also serve as a Payroll Specialist back-up when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the payroll processing team to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payroll reconciliation or journal entry promptly.
- Review Quarterly payroll tax fillings for federal and states, and work with representatives to resolve issues or notices.
- Accrue payroll, bonus, and benefit expenses at month end.
- Review biweekly payroll journal entries integrated into the accounting system NetSuite, and reconcile all payroll-related GL accounts: Accruals, withholding, benefits, taxes, 401K, and others.
- Analyze monthly and quarterly payroll expenses and explain the flux and unexpected/unusual changes and research for a timely resolution.
- Support SOX and statutory audits related to payroll.
- Maintain GL mapping between payroll and accounting systems.
- Reconciliation of cash accounts as they relate to payroll fees and refunds.
- Record adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Coordinate audit inquiries and support requests.
- Monitor accounts for unexpected or unusual changes and research for a timely resolution.
- Validation of data related to employee department and location for accrual and reporting accuracy.
- When necessary, calculate and process regular bi-weekly payroll, including incentive compensation, SPIFFs, and scheduled additional payments.
- Stay informed of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.

Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience of payroll accounting experience
- Working knowledge of payroll processes and how they impact P&L statements and balance sheets.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant, preferably using Rippling Payroll and Oracle NetSuite or similar systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities to address payroll accounting challenges effectively.
- Proficiency in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and other relevant financial tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and external parties in a professional manner.
- Extensive experience with general accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with publicly traded companies is a plus.
- Strong experience with LTI and accounting practices associated with the various types of stock

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $75,000-$90,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
