ABOUT THE ROLE
We are building next-generation 50G/100G optical link solutions for data-centric computing, leveraging advanced silicon photonics integrated with cutting-edge CMOS electronics. We are looking for an Analog Design Intern to contribute to the design, verification, and validation of high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for our photonic transceivers and Electronic Integrated Circuits (EICs).
As an intern, you will work closely within our Analog and Mixed-Signal (AMS) team to develop the circuit design skills needed to deliver scalable, low-power, high-performance EICs in leading-edge technology processes for optical compute and interconnects. This role will provide hands-on experience across the full chip lifecycle, from schematic design to tapeout and silicon validation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and simulate high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits (e.g., drivers, TIAs, equalizers, PLLs, bias/voltage regulators) in advanced CMOS processes.
- Perform transistor-level design, schematic capture, and simulation using Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre.
- Collaborate with layout engineers to optimize circuit implementation for performance, area, and power.
- Participate in chip tapeout activities, including verification, corner simulations, and design reviews.
- Contribute to lab bring-up and silicon measurements, correlating results with simulations and assisting in debugging.
- Support methodology improvements by developing testbenches, automation scripts, and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD or MS candidatein Electrical Engineering with focus on Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design.
- Strong foundation in analog circuit design, including amplifiers, biasing, current mirrors, and high-speed signal paths.
- Familiarity with high-speed design techniques(jitter, noise, bandwidth, equalization, matching).
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and related analog design tools.
- Prior exposure to chip tapeout and post-silicon measurement/validation is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, SKILL, etc.) a plus
- Knowledge of system verilog modeling on analog circuits a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
LOCATION: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Onsite)
This paid internship, which will be at least 4 months in duration, offers an hourly rate of $45 CAD for Master’s-level candidates and $55 CAD for PhD-level candidates. As an intern, you will not be eligible for company-sponsored benefits such as health and dental coverage, life insurance, stock options, or retirement plans. However, you will receive all entitlements under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, including vacation pay and statutory holiday pay, where applicable.
