About Abridge
Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.
Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.
We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.
The Role
Abridge is looking for a detail-oriented, compliance-savvy, and empathetic People Operations Manager to join our People team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the details, brings sharp expertise in employment law and regulatory requirements, and can deftly balance the administration of complex processes with people-first communication.
As our People Operations Manager, you’ll take point on critical operational areas including immigration, compliance reporting, benefits administration, and leave management. You’ll partner closely with the Head of People Operations and others across the People team to ensure we’re not just buttoned up — we’re ahead of the curve.
This is a high-impact, foundational role for a trusted operator who wants to help build scalable, human-centered processes in a fast-moving startup environment.
What You’ll Do
HRIS & Systems Ownership (Rippling)
Fully own Rippling, building and optimizing workflows, automations, and modules to maximize the platform’s capabilities.
Create and refine lifecycle processes (onboarding, offboarding, access, provisioning) and partner with IT on device management and identity/access controls.
Maintain clean, accurate systems through audits, reporting, and proactive troubleshooting.
People Operations (Generalist Work)
Interpret regulatory and policy updates across employment, leave, compliance, and immigration, translating changes into business impact and updating company practices accordingly.
Lead the design, revision, and governance of People policies and handbooks for a multi-state employee base.
Oversee compliance programs and reporting requirements (e.g., EEO-1, VETS-4212), ensuring accuracy and operational readiness.
Manage complex or escalated cases involving leaves, accommodations, background checks, and employment compliance.
Partner with legal counsel and external vendors on program updates, escalations, and continuous improvement of People processes
Programs & Operational Excellence
Manage compliance programs, including audits, harassment prevention training, and other regulatory mandates.
Build and refine People Ops processes across IT, Finance, Legal, and Recruiting.
Create and maintain SOPs, documentation, and change-management communications.
Jump in wherever operational gaps exist and help improve clarity and structure.
What You’ll Bring
3–7+ years in People Ops, HRIS, HR, or hybrid HR/IT operations roles.
Deep expertise in Rippling — not just as a user, but a power operator. You’ve built workflows, maintained data integrity, and know how to get the most out of the platform to support efficient, compliant operations. Strong familiarity with documentation tools and reporting dashboards.
Strong technical aptitude and comfort working with systems, workflows, and IT partners.
Experience supporting compliance, LOA, immigration, background checks, and policy programs.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to context-switch effectively.
A builder mindset — someone who seeks out gaps and creates scalable solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you know how to make legal and operational information accessible to employees.
Bonus Points If…
Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
Familiarity with HR systems and the ability to troubleshoot and configure workflows.
A collaborative spirit and a passion for building people processes that are efficient, compliant, and human.
A bias for action and comfort with ambiguity—we're building as we go.
This is a hybrid role in our San Francisco office location. (Tues, Weds, Thurs in office)
