Senior Network Engineer
About this role:
Groq is looking for a Senior Network Engineer with broad experience across multiple technologies while having deep experience in key areas. This role will design, plan, and implement company wide networks in support of both our customer facing workloads (GroqCloud) and internal corporate operations. This role will also minimize administrative overhead and routine tasks (Toil) by automating internal systems and processes.
As part of a small and growing team, as well as our first dedicated Network hire, this role will help lay the groundwork for future growth and scalability.
Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
- Network administration across several environments and platforms, including GCP, VPN and on-prem installations
- Provide assistance troubleshooting issues from the frontline level to advanced network troubleshooting
- Participate in on-call to support GroqCloud
- Effective and professional communication
- Automation of routine tasks, monitoring and metrics including logging and alerting
- Management of networking equipment within Datacenters and local offices
- Subject Matter Expert across Network Engineering
- Assist in budget and resource planning
- Occasional Datacenter Duties (racking/cabling of datacenter buildouts)
- Work closely with InfoSec and other departments to protect infrastructure
- Develop and maintain documentation
- Ensure the high availability and reliability of networks, according to the SLA and requirements of the services that network supports.
Qualifications for this role:
At minimum:
- 8+ years of Network Administration
- Professional experience with common configuration management tools (ansible, ZTP, Cisco Fabric Manager)
- Ability to debug and optimize scripts and automate routine tasks
- Experience in process engineering and documentation related to IT services
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and cloud services in a hybrid networked environment
- Detail Oriented and Highly Organized
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proven ability to work with external parties including vendors and customers
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve results
- Flexibility working across multiple systems and contexts
- Understanding of and track record of L2 andL3 routing concepts and best practices (iBGP, OSPF, VPC/MLAG, vrrp etc.)
- Proven track record of designing and implementing networks at scale
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as NetFlow
Highly valued, not required:
- Start-up experience
- Cisco nexus platform experience
- Arista switching experience
- Meraki configuration in a multi-organization setup.
- Interest in AI/ML technologies
- Experience in hybrid networked environments, especially connecting to GCP
- Experience working within data center, NOC or Colocation environments

Compensation: At Groq, a competitive base salary is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes equity and benefits. For this role, the base salary range is $86,900 to $183,800, determined by your skills, qualifications, experience and internal benchmarks.
