Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company whose mission is to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. In pursuit of this mission, Shield AI is building the world’s best AI pilot. Its AI pilot, Hivemind, has flown a fighter jet (F-16), a vertical takeoff and landing drone (V-BAT), and a quadcopter (Nova). The company has offices in San Diego, Dallas, Washington DC and abroad. Shield AI’s products and people are currently in the field actively supporting operations with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. allies.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer to help manage key suppliers, execute complex buying arrangements, and negotiate better terms and pricing. This Buyer ideally brings a mix of experience in aerospace as well as entrepreneurial drive and rigor to excel in this fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

Plan, coordinate, execute and manage vendor interactions (including submitted purchase orders and aligning strategic objectives)
Support procurements of a wide variety of requirements, ranging from raw material, services, fixed assets, and tooling. Opportunities to support new product introduction, production, repairs and sustainment
Negotiate better pricing and terms across high-dollar and volume spend areas
Identify, evaluate, and onboard potential new supplier to improve quality, throughput, or pricing
Drive strategic initiatives for supply chain as a whole (e.g., compliance)

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and supply chain management of 3+ years (ideally in the aerospace or automotive fields)
Analytical and problem-solving expertise
Strong organizational skills with an ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience with ERP systems (Deltek/Costpoint a plus)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with FAR and DFARs

of employment)

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.
