The Software Engineer in Edge Workflows team plays a crucial role supporting Genomics business at Tempus by building integration capabilities with EMR systems and reference labs. The software engineer will closely work with department leaders, internal and external stakeholders and build robust, cloud native applications and services that enable automated integration capabilities with our partners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide broad-based support and input into the design, development, testing, bug fixing, documentation and maintenance of Edge Workflows software
- Build next-generation healthcare data ingestion platforms and tools in Python
- Build resilient data pipelines that integrates with Electronic Medical Record systems (Epic, Cerner, OncoEMR etc.) in healthcare organizations and other labs using industry standard information exchange protocols such as HL7, FHIR and DICOM
- Develop robust software build and deployment pipelines using cloud native technologies Collaborate with team and build testing infrastructure to reliably test the data pipelines
Qualifications:
- Minimum degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred
- Accepted fields of study: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology
- Minimum years of experience: 2-3 years
- Skill requirements
- Strong Python programming skills and experience with modern Python web frameworks such as FastAPI and Django - 2 Years
- Experience with building robust cloud native software applications using RESTful APIs, cloud technologies (compute, storage, notifications) from public cloud vendors such as AWS or GCP, containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) - 3 years
- Experience with designing scalable relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Redis, BigQuery, BigTable, et al) - 3 years
- Experience with unit testing frameworks such as pytest and CI/CD pipelines such as Concourse and Jenkins - 3 years
- Strong experience with building resilient data pipelines that integrate with Electronic Medical Record systems (Epic, Cerner, OncoEMR etc.) in healthcare organizations using industry standard information exchange protocols such as HL7, FHIR and DICOM - 2 years
