We’re looking to hire a Financial Controller to oversee all areas of operational accounting at Luma. This includes everything from monthly reporting, accounts payable, payroll, financial audits, tax, equity, and implementing financial controls. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the company’s long-term growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Own the relationship with our outsourced provider of finance and accounting services to ensure an accurate and efficient month-end close process.
- Develop clear documentation for any material or subjective accounting policies and manage the year end financial audit process.
- Work closely with our tax advisors to ensure that the company complies with all federal, state, and local tax requirements, makes timely filings, and takes full advantage of applicable tax credits.
- Help manage and document processes for accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, banking, and other day-to-day operational accounting areas.
- Researching evaluating, and implementing new systems to work seamlessly with our existing financial tech stack and financial proceses.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements reporting.
- Serve as the technical accounting expert and trusted advisor to senior management maintaining current knowledge of GAAP, relevant regulations and industry trends providing guidance, planning and direction related to all accounting matters.
What we're looking for
- You have 9+ years of experience in financial management at a leading technology company or top-tier public accounting firm. Previous experience as a financial controller/assistant controller strongly preferred.
- You are a self-starter who gets the job done. No task is too big or too small.
- You are unafraid and can dive into any new area that needs help.
- You are organized, have a high attention to detail and can prioritize effectively.
- You are excited about playing a central role in building a world-class finance function.
- You have a solid knowledge of US GAAP, and enjoy researching and implementing complex accounting standards in a practical way with the help of expert advisors.
- You enjoy taking a high degree of ownership over tasks from inception to completion including ways to automate them and ensuring they can scale.
- You have a great eye for detail, a sixth sense for when numbers don’t add up, and are extremely well-organized.
- You have an interest in and/or experience with advanced AI systems, and feel strongly about ensuring these systems are developed safely.
- CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent advanced accounting degree.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, particularly Excel / Google Sheets.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (Quickbooks, NetSuite, FloQast etc.).
The pay range for this position in California is $180,000 - $215,000yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience. We also offer competitive equity packages in the form of stock options and a comprehensive benefits plan.
