About the role
We are looking for a public policy expert to support Anthropic’s product development, serving as a bridge between our product teams and the policy community to ensure that Anthropic sets the standard on responsible AI development and deployment. The role will build and manage initiatives and strategies that inform our product decisions while helping establish Anthropic as a thought leader in responsible AI development. This role combines strategic thinking, program management, technical know-how, and stakeholder engagement to advance Anthropic's product policy objectives and address evolving societal impacts of AI. The role is highly cross functional and requires an ability to take initiative, work with diverse internal and external stakeholders, and execute in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a strategic program to bring external expert and policy perspectives to our product roadmap
- Embed strategic and technical policy perspectives in Anthropic’s product development roadmap
- Engage with key policy stakeholders (e.g., via briefings, consultations, demos, roundtables) to demonstrate Anthropic’s responsible product development, share latest product developments/research, and build trust
- Create position papers, consultation responses, and other internal and external written materials articulating Anthropic’s approach to responsible product development and deployment
- Conduct strategic horizon scanning of product and policy developments
- Support policy partnerships and collaborations with governments, nonprofits, and academics to advance the use of Claude for socially beneficial uses
You may be a good fit if you have:
- 7+ years of experience building and managing expert advisory bodies, ideally in technology policy (e.g., technical working groups, multi-stakeholder initiatives, academic partnerships)
- Demonstrated track record translating complex technical concepts for policy audiences, particularly through demos, briefings, and written materials
- Strong program management skills, with experience designing frameworks to systematically incorporate external feedback into product development
- Experience working at the intersection of product and policy teams, with ability to effectively bridge technical and policy discussions
- Built and maintained relationships with academic experts, policy professionals, and technical leaders in emerging technology fields
- Proven ability to design and implement structured feedback processes that deliver actionable insights for product teams
- Experience preparing senior technical leaders for policy engagements and crafting narratives around responsible technology development
- Strong understanding of AI policy landscape and key stakeholders in academia, civil society, and government
- Track record of designing compelling demonstrations and explanatory materials for policy audiences
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and ability to create structure around evolving technical and policy challenges
