Meet the team behind this journey
As a Paralegal at DeepL, you will work closely with our legal team and other legal professionals to provide critical support and assistance across a range of legal matters. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative company that is at the forefront of the language technology revolution.
Your Responsibilities
- Providing general support to the Privacy Team at DeepL on a wide range of matters.
- Conducting legal research with a focus on European and international privacy laws and providing summaries and recommendations to the team.
- Assisting with the implementation of new projects and preparing legitimate interests assessments (LIA), data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and updates of the privacy policy.
- With supervision, reviewing various legal documents such as data processing agreements (DPAs).
- Supporting the team in responding to data subject access requests (DSARs).
- Monitoring and providing updates on changes in privacy legislation and on enforcement action, both within the EU and globally.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with data protection obligations and maintaining data protection policies and procedures in accordance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
- Assisting in developing training materials on privacy & data protection for employees.
- Administrative tasks such as organizing and maintaining documents and overseeing deadlines for multiple tasks and assisting in audits as required.
Qualities we look for
- Interest in data privacy and data protection topics, AI and language solutions.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB), up to LPC/ SQE or equivalent, and ideally with prior experience working as a commercial/ data protection-focused paralegal
- Familiarity with GDPR and UK data protection laws and regulations is an advantage but is not necessary.
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills with a structured way of working and considerable attention to detail, especially under time pressure.
- Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately. You are a collaborative individual with a proactive style of working.
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise.
- A willingness to learn more about the in-house legal world and the different privacy matters that we deal with at DeepL.
- Interested in growing in the role and taking on new challenges.
