About the Team
The Real Estate & Workplace (REW) team at OpenAI designs and manages spaces, programs, and services that empower our employees and advance our mission. Our team covers a diverse range of functions, including leasing, global operations, analytics, construction, workplace experience, and employee services. We strive to optimize the employee experience while maintaining operational excellence and financial discipline by focusing on flexibility, cost effectiveness, intentional design, and scalable, people-centric solutions.
About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned events leader to help bring “Feel the AGI” experiences to life for all OpenAI employees — and eventually to communities across the globe. This role will lead high-impact, large-scale events that build culture, spark meaningful dialogue, and create lasting moments that connect people to OpenAI’s mission.
This person will partner closely with leaders across Research, Design, Workplace, Comms, People, and Executive teams to bring these gatherings to life with strategic intent and operational excellence.
In this role you will be:
Lead the strategy, design, and execution of global “Feel the AGI” events that engage employees, senior leaders, and external partners.
Produce experiences ranging from intimate gatherings to high-profile, multi-day events with policymakers and industry leaders.
Partner across cross-functional teams (research, design, workplace, comms, people, leadership) to ensure events are strategically aligned and operationally excellent.
Serve as the strategic lead for OpenAI’s first company-wide San Francisco gathering in two years — embedding the “Feel the AGI” vision throughout the week-long programming.
Build and nurture an external network of AI ecosystem partners, talent, and thought leaders to participate in and amplify events.
Uphold a creative vision that is meaningful, hopeful, and realistic — while ensuring flawless execution and exceptional attendee experience.
Develop scalable event strategies, playbooks, and operational frameworks to support global expansion of these programs.
Manage timelines, budgets, and cross-functional workstreams with precision.
You might thrive in this role if these describe your qualifications:
10+ years of executive-level event leadership, managing both internal and external gatherings.
Deep understanding of AGI and OpenAI’s mission (you’re “AGI-pilled” and excited to help others connect to it).
Proven experience leading high-stakes, large-scale events involving senior leaders, policymakers, and external stakeholders.
Strong industry network and the ability to convene top talent and thought leaders.
Creative, strategic, and detail-oriented — with a track record of building programs that inspire and endure.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-ambiguity environment.
