As part of Waymo's Legal team, you will work on the exciting legal issues surrounding our transformational autonomous driving technology and help guide our business forward from technology development through scaled commercial deployment. We partner with our public policy, safety, security and privacy experts to define transportation policy for the autonomous driving world to come, advising on regulatory changes that support and protect our users around the world. We collaborate with our engineering, product, strategy and operations teams to develop and protect our intellectual property portfolio and guide our corporate and commercial transactions. We ensure compliance with a complex and dynamic range of global regulations. And we anticipate, mitigate, and litigate high-profile and precedent-setting legal matters.
You will be based hybrid on-site in the Bay area and report into our Managing Counsel.
You Will
- Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, such as hardware purchase and development, inbound services, supply chain, joint development and collaboration and other commercial transactional agreements.
- Respond promptly to legal requests from our product, engineering, sourcing, business development, finance, and marketing teams, summarizing and communicating legal concepts.
- Advise cross-functional partners on legal issues such as product liability, regulatory matters, agreement structures, approval processes, IP, and negotiation strategies.
- Support improvements to Waymo's legal department by streamlining processes, forms, and operations.
You Have
- JD degree, admission to the bar, and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the state where the position is located.
- 3+ years of experience advising on intellectual property and commercial agreements.
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements such as licenses, supply, and services agreements.
- Experience in another specialist area of law (e.g. employment, intellectual property, corporate, or competition).
- Experience advising clients from hardware supply, R&D or new technology companies.
- Experience managing multiple projects and developing expertise in new, complex subjects.
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. $226,000—$286,000 USD
