At Snorkel AI, we are pioneering new approaches to data development. We are seeking an entrepreneurial Director of Operations to own new strategic initiatives and manage a team of Program Managers within our Research department. This is a high ownership opportunity to own delivery of strategic customer projects, lead cross-functional teams, and implement cutting-edge approaches in data development. This role requires a blend of skills and leadership experience including strategic planning & execution, customer/stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and familiarity with human data labeling/annotation.
The person we’re looking for is someone who isn’t afraid of blank space - we want someone who can help create operational rigor around net new initiatives & offerings. Reporting into the VP of New Products and Technologies, this person will drive for all data and insights required to make both fast-turnaround decisions and longer term strategic bets. We are looking for someone who embraces scrappiness, experimentation, and quick iteration.
The salary range for this role, based on the Bay Area, is $220-$275K.
Main Responsibilities
- Own the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic data labeling/annotation projects and initiatives, across varying customers and timelines
- Manage a team of Data & Ops Program Managers while ensuring best-in-class customer results and efficient processes that result in reliable delivery
- Identify opportunities and manage strategic relationships with partners & vendors that will help to scale our overall operations
- Build reporting and analytics to investigate key project trends, performance, issues and metrics.
- Implement standard operating procedures for project intake, delivery, contractor management, and quality control, ensuring consistency and scalability
- Develop contractor hiring & management strategy in partnership with recruiting leaders
- Collaborate cross-functionally with research, engineering, product, and other teams to leverage and improve data developing technologies
- Establish and continuously improve processes for project management, vendor management, and resource planning
- Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to the operations team
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in operations, program/project management, or related fields
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion
- Proven track record of bringing operational rigor to unstructured environments, projects and programs
- Strong technical background (e.g. computer science, engineering, data analytics)
- Strong leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and manage contractors
- Strong vendor management skills and experience overseeing external partners
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, zero-to-one environment
